Why do we need a FEED?
Many operators are reducing their project schedules and a frequent question is, why do we need a FEED?

The function of a FEED is to get the operator to a position where they can hand out an ITT with confidence that the scope is technically feasible, well specified with no significant areas of concern or poor definition and that they have a good feel for the project cost and schedule, which meet their needs. This is the low risk position to be in at the ITT stage. Not all FEEDs will achieve this and so some effort is required to make sure the company selected to perform the FEED have the personnel with adequate experience and that the FEED is not rushed through.
